With arcplan engage 2.2 you can select an area from an arcplan document to be displayed in a widget.
The 'Live Screenshot' widget displays an up-to-date screenshot of an arcplan document by retrieving it in real time from the arcplan Enterprise Server, taking into account the filter settings which can be changed from inside the widget.
This works out-of-the-box with all existing and new arcplan documents. You do not have to make any amendments to your favourite arcplan Documents to be able to integrate their content directly into one of your BI Walls.
The following walkthrough demonstrates how the feature works:
1) Start engage, search for "demo" and open the dashboard document
2) Click on the 'Create Widget' button and the two options below are shown:
3a) Clicking the "Select an object" button will highlight all objects in the document which can be used as a direct source for a widget. Currently tables and charts offer this functionality. Click one of the highlighted objects to start the widget creation wizard, where you are led through the steps required to create a widget. This feature was released in arcplan Engage 2.1.
3b) Clicking the "Create live screen shot" button will take you into live screenshot mode. Now highlight a rectangular area anywhere on the document using click-drag-release with the left mouse button. Upon releasing the mouse button, a "Choose this selection" option is shown at the bottom-right of the highlighted area:
If you were not accurate in defining the area you wish to see in your widget, use the mouse to create it again.
Once you are happy with your selection, click 'Choose this selection' to start the widget creation wizard.
Complete the steps in the wizard and you will now see the new widget on the chosen BI Wall. It simply displays your chosen area from the arcplan document:
If you change the filter options in the widget, a new image will be created to display the corresponding up-to-date data
- hence the name 'Live Screenshot'.
This feature enables you to integrate information from the most complex of arcplan Documents into your personlized arcplan Engage environment.
