IBM Cognos TM1: Accessing the database
If only the interface "TM1 via OLE DB" is showing up in the database connection dialog the Designer is not able to find the file "tm1api.dll".
So you have to make sure that the "PATH" entry in the "System Environment Variables" is set ( e.g. "c:\Program Files (x86)\Cognos\TM1\bin\" ) for the arcplan Designer or Server to find the "tm1api.dll". Restarting the computer may be needed.
If the interface "IBM Cognos" is showing up but the connection to the database cannot be established two possible causes are:
- the "tm1p.ini" cannot be found
- the "AdminHost" is not specified in the "tm1p.ini" which is read by the Designer or Server
Sometimes more than one "tm1p.ini" can be found on the computer. Make sure that the "tm1p.ini" specifying the correct "AdminHost" is found by the Designer or Server. The server running under "local system" looks for "C:\Users\All Users\Applix\TM1\tm1p.ini" and the Designer as well as the server running under the account "firstname.lastname" will look under "c:\Users\firstname.lastname\AppData\Roaming\Applix\TM1\tm1p.ini"
To specify the AdminHost open the TM1 Architect. Use "File -> Options" to open the "TM1 Options" dialog. Select or enter the FQDN or the IP of the TM1 Server that is to be accessed. Close the dialog by clicking "OK". In standard installations the TM1 Architect saves the AdminHost in "c:\Users\firstname.lastname\AppData\Roaming\Applix\TM1\tm1p.ini".
