SAP BW connection requirements
This article can be used together with "Solving connection issues" which describes the symptoms, possible causes of and solutions for the most frequent issues that may occur when establishing a connection to a SAP data source: http://community.arcplan.com/wiki/sapsolvingconnectionissues
To connect to SAP BW and see all relevant systems and queries, some simple requirements have to be met:
- The following files have to reside in the Windows system folder: "librfc32u.dll" accompanied by three "icu*.dll" (see http://community.arcplan.com/forums/customerservicetipsandtricks/which-sap-rfc-library-is-required-for-accessing-an for detailed information)
- The BW system has to be accessible via RFC (needs to be enabled on the SAP side). See the Designer help file for a screenshot.
- Some function modules need to be enabled for external access: http://community.arcplan.com/wiki/functionmodulesusedbythesapbwcommunicationinterfac
- If the interface is selectable but no system shows up in the dialog "SAP Logon", the file "saplogon.ini" is not findable. Please check the PATH variable for the path of the "saplogon.ini" (usually c:\Users\<Windows username>\AppData\Roaming\SAP\Common\). The path to the saplogon can be found in the Options dialog of the SAP LOGON tool:
If the path to the "saplogon.ini" is not available in the PATH variable a "system variable" called SAPLOGON_INI_FILE can be defined. The variable value should be filled with the path to the saplogon.ini file. A reboot of the computer may be necessary after setting the variable.
